Culburra Beach is a small coastal village in the Shoalhaven on the South Coast of NSW less than two and a half hours from Sydney and Canberra.
Surrounded by water on three sides, it abounds in unspoilt natural beauty and is one of the South Coast’s most beautiful holiday destinations, shhh. And, as it turns out, the perfect place for a festival!
Several years ago a small team of local volunteers banded together as the Love Culburra Beach Festival committee, a non-profit incorporated association dedicated to celebrating the area and delivering a weekend of music, art, culture and, above all, fun to both the local community and visitors alike.
In 2016, a new Festival board and organising committee of local residents, artists, musicians, surfers and business people was redubbed Burradise. With our volunteers and community support, the Burradise Festival is run as a non-profit creative celebration event. We rely heavily on the support and participation of the local community, local partners and supporters, thanks to their combined efforts, the Festival is going from strength to strength and is back in 2019.
The 2019 Festival took place May 10–12, coinciding with Mother’s Day. Everything was free except for Friday and Saturday night music gigs which were jam packed with awesome local and touring acts.
Date change for 2020 was inspired by years of feedback. With very cool coastal temps in May (plus a good chance of rain) combined with visitors and volunteers saying the Mum’s Day weekend meant commitments elsewhere, our committee explored dates later in the year while NOT in Peak Season when the area is bustling already. Result: last weekend in September which happens just ahead of the School Spring Break for most.
