Our Story

More than TEN years ago, our Culburra Beach locals got together to plan a party in the name of live music, family fun and local creativity.
They called it ‘Love Culburra Beach Festival’ and it was the start of something big. Since then, ‘Love Culburra’ has become a community-powered organisation that celebrates the many wonderful creative, caring and compassionate humans living in this beautiful part of the coast we refer to as ‘Burradise’.

Back then, we had Rob Hirst from Midnight Oil headlining with local singer songwriter Paul Greene, on two stages in one big night at the local community hall. In the decade since, under the branding ‘Love Culburra Beach Festival’ and ‘Burradise Festival’, we have hosted some of Australia’s most loved musical acts, including Sticky Fingers, Caravana Sun, the Swamp Donkeys, Dos Enos, Benji & the Saltwater Sound System, Rosie Burgess Trio and Frank Sultana. With help from a swag of amazing sponsors and partners, the festival has grown into so much more than the music.

The Culburra Beach Festival has managed several community projects aimed at fostering creativity for people of all ages plus lots of community volunteering and engagement, including the youth song-writing mentorship Young Coasties, the Community Skate Park Project, regular Burradise Live music events, an indigenous photography and language project, a community cookbook of winning ‘CookaBurra’ multicultural recipes, the Burratones Choir and plenty more.

In 2020, the South Coast was devastated by prolonged drought, bushfires, flood, and a pandemic. In 2021, the festival had to be postponed again due to COVID lockdowns. Then, in the spirit of resilience and recovery, the Burradise Festival returned in 2022, ready to celebrate more than ever before. After a two-year break, a new festival committee was formed.

In 2024, newly branded as the Culburra Beach Festival, our first event for 2024 was the Easter Sunday Burradise Bash held at the Surf Life Saving Club.
The current board are taking a trip back to the grassroots of the festival, tuning in to the community vibe and bringing original music, culture and taste sensations to town, with something for people of all ages to enjoy.

Join the fun on September 27th, 28th and 29th as we celebrate another Culburra Beach Festival. #This is Us
